Requirements for the CHS Designation

To obtain the CHS designation, CHS candidates must successfully complete both CHS Designation Courses (303 & 504) and the Financial Planning Fundamentals for Health Insurance Professionals Program (505).

Those who currently hold a recognized financial designation in good standing may apply for an exemption for having to complete the Financial Planning Fundamentals for Health Insurance Professionals Program (505). To apply for an exemption, please fill out the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition form. If your exemption is granted, you must still successfully complete both of the CHS Designation Courses (303 & 504) in order to obtain the CHS designation.

Once you have successfully completed all three courses, you will receive a congratulatory email from our credential services team that will outline the next steps to obtain the designation. These steps include completion of a CHS Candidate Agreement form and payment of your designation dues.

Once you have completed the educational course requirements, completed the CHS Candidate Agreement form, and paid your CHS designation dues, you will be able to hold yourself out as a CHS designation holder.

The annual licensing fee for the CHS designation for 2024 has been set at $249.
